Description: A full-time neonatal Nurse Practitioner is needed ASAP in this Alaska facility. Serving an area of over 300,000 people, this 40 plus bed unit provides acute care for premature infants and sick neonates. The NICU provides Level 2 and 3 care to the smallest infants in Alaska. The nurse practitioner’s functions as the expert clinician and manages the neonatal patient caseload with consultation, collaboration, and general supervision from a physician. The new practitioner must be able to exercise independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of certain medical processes and procedures as well as use extensive knowledge of pathophysiology, pharmacy, and physiology. Experience with transport, delivery room attendance, resuscitation, and surgical and acutely ill chronic patients would be advantageous. Candidates must have completed an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and must possess a current RN license in the State of Alaska. Candidates must also have a current Alaska ANP license upon completion of orientation and within 90 days of hire; and current NCC certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner is required within 6 months of hire. Three years of clinical practice is required; five years of recent RN experience providing acute care in a Level 3 NICU is preferred. Call Brittany Heisler at 866-403-9433 for more information!
